Our Screening Process
At Sterling Nest, we take the time to truly get to know each nanny we represent. Our thorough screening process ensures alignment with our agency’s values and standards. We’re here to make sure you feel seen, supported, and set up for long-term success.
-
Ready to take the next step? We’re always looking for exceptional caregivers who bring heart, professionalism, and dedication to their work. Submit your application to begin the process of joining our network of trusted, high-caliber nannies. Once received, a member of our team will personally review your submission and be in touch with next steps. We can’t wait to learn more about you and support you on this meaningful journey.
-
All nanny candidates complete a tailored skills assessment based on the age group(s) they’ve indicated experience with (NCS, Newborn/Infant, Toddlers, Preschool, or School-Age). This allows us to evaluate each candidate’s strength, and better understand which age group they are most confident and passionate about working with. The assessment ensures our placements align with both the nanny’s expertise and the unique needs of each family.
-
As part of our personalized placement process, each candidate completes a 45-60 minute in-person interview with the owner. This conversation is an opportunity for us to connect, get to know your unique personality, and ensure your values, communication style, and level of professionalism align with the families we serve. We approach each interview with care- looking not just at qualifications, but at how you’ll fit within the nurturing, elevated environments we’re proud to support.
-
Your nanny profile is your time to shine. This is your opportunity to showcase your strengths, experience, and personality in a way that truly reflects who you are. We provide personalized guidance throughout the entire process-helping you craft a professional, engaging profile that highlights your unique value and attracts the attention of high-level families. From thoughtful wording to polished presentation, we ensure your profile stands out for all the right reasons.
-
To maintain the highest level of trust and transparency, we require a minimum of four professional childcare references from each candidate. Before any offer is extended, we conduct a comprehensive background check-covered by our agency- including criminal history, driving records (where applicable), and a review of public social media activity. These steps help ensure a smooth and confident transition into the final stages of placement, offering peace of mind to both you and the families we serve.
-
We’re here to make sure you feel confident and cared for from the start. Our team offers thoughtful contract support to help secure fair pay, clear expectations, and meaningful benefits-so you can step into each role feeling valued and supported.

Yes! Your profile is your opportunity to showcase your experience, strengths, and personality to potential families. We provide personalized support to create a polished, professional profile that attracts clients.
-
Once you’ve completed our screening process, we’ll present you to families who align with your skills, experience, and preferences. If a family expresses interest, we’ll coordinate interviews and facilitate a required paid trial before any formal commitment is made.
-
Yes, all families are required to schedule a paid trial before placement. The length of the trial is up to the family, but we recommend at least one week. Trials give both family and nanny an opportunity to experience the dynamic in real time.
-
We remain a resource for you even after placement. We assist with contract negotiations, offer guidance if challenges arise, invite you to local nanny networking events, and encourage ongoing professional development through trusted third-party resources.
-
To maintain the highest standard of care, we require all nannies to have an up-to-date CPR and First Aid certifications, a recognized Nanny Certification/Early Childhood Degree/NCS certification/Other Recognized Childcare certifications, and a minimum of 5 years of professional nanny experience. These standards help us ensure families receive exceptional care and that you’re set up for success in every placement.
